Persons seeking assistance can contact Northland Assistance Center for an appointment during regular business hours.  An initial phone screening process will occur in which the client’s name and identifying information is entered into the Mid America Assistance Coalition’s MAACLink database. 

If approved, an individual will be asked to set an appointment during regular office hours.  The person will be informed as to the assessment information and documentation required for eligibility.
During the office visit, the client will:

• Complete an application,
• Sign a release of information form,
• Provide personal documentation proving identity, residency, income level within federal poverty guidelines and need for assistance.

A completed application and interview does not assure financial aid will be provided.  The application for assistance will be processed as soon as identity verification is complete.  Staff will notify persons if the application is accepted.  Generally, NAC makes a determination within 24 hours of the application process.
